A little about me...

My name is Jami Olson, and I'm a Des Moines local. I currently work full time at Kaplan University, where I am a Career Services Advisor (this means I help our students and graduates find jobs, and it's a really rewarding job). I am married to a wonderful man (who takes amazing photos, see them here), and I have two precious, furry children- Rosie (dog) and Maynard (cat). In January of 2016 I was lucky enough to bring my amazing little boy, Jude Richard, into the world. He has my heart.

I feel that it is important for those looking to hire a photographer to know the photographer's background. When I was 16, I started working at a franchise portrait studio, where I continued to work seasonally and as needed for 6 years. While there, I was trained regularly, and took pictures varying from professional headshots, photos of children, families as large a 15, newborns and infants, seniors, couples and more. All of my photography background before I ventured out on my own was in studio (as in, with fancy lights and backdrops).

In 2012 I began doing photos on my own, and prefer to use natural light for my photography. This means that we can go to most any outdoor location and certain indoor locations that have great natural lighting.

I have obtained strong expertise in posing portraits, making the most out of the opportunities I have to capture a photo and working with my surroundings and props.

I hope this information provides you with the details you were looking for, however, if you have more questions, please feel free to ask. I look forward to working with you in the future.
